The 5 Most Iconic Toys Of The 1960's

1960's Toys That Will Knock Your Block Off
Vintage toys in the early 1960's were selling out faster than Ice Cube at a Disney movie casting call.  The "Baby Boomers" were losing the diapers, and getting anxious to become the lucky recipients of America's new found consumerism.

Our country as a whole, and especially America's middle class, was prospering like never before.  The demand for consumer goods was skyrocketing.  And the toy industry was only too happy to pump out new toys by the thousands.  In the midst of this tornado - or Sharknado, if you prefer - of toy production, there were plenty of forgettable ones.  But the early 60's can also stake claim to some of the most iconic & best selling toys of all time.

Facebook In The 90's? -A Quick Bit of Seinfeld Knowledge-

This clip from the 1992 Seinfeld episode, "The Bubble Boy" - (season 4), may not be very "vintage" for some/most of us here.  As true as that may be...there's no doubt in my mind that there's someone reading this right now thinking...

"1992?  They had color TV back then?  And what the hell is, "Seinfeld"?

Regardless of where you are on the age spectrum - whether you think Seinfeld is still making new episodes, or you think "TV is SO 2009" - I think we can all agree that this clip is the perfectly worded acknowledgement of why us humans just love social media these days.  It can always give us the feeling of being part of a community.  A 1.15-billion person community of your peers.  Whether we like our peers or not...

Cheers!

First thing's first...yes, you are correct, this post doesn't have much to do with vintage photography at all.
BUT, I have a very good explanation for why I chose to take a detour from the usual vintage photo buffet that you've come accustom to seeing here on the V:F blog.

And my explanation goes like this:
Tree houses are pure badassery.  Add a little vintage flair to them, and you've got yourself an envy-inducing escape of epic proportions.

Listen to this twist on the famous song...
Led Zeppelin song "Babe, I'm Gonna Leave You"
This song was written by Anne Bredon in the 60's. Led Zeppelin decided to kick this songs ass, and it ended up on their first album - 1969's "Led Zeppelin"
